Due to an underway Capital Improvement Project, Jefferson Street, in the Belmont Hills section of Lower Merion Township, will be closed from Old Belmont Avenue to Ashland Avenue—between the hours of 7 AM to 4:30 PM (Mondays through Fridays)—starting on or about October 31st, 2012.
The closure will apply to pedestrians and bicyclists as well as all motorists.
Access to the La Collina restaurant will be provided at all times. Jefferson Street will be open all day Saturdays and Sundays; and after 4:30 PM until 7:00 AM on Mondays through Fridays.
The detour will be in place for a maximum of three weeks. If a driver is planning to travel northwest on Jefferson Street, the detour will proceed south or straight onto Belmont Avenue, right onto Rock Hill Road, right onto Conshohocken State Road (Route 23), right onto Mary Waters Ford Road, slight right onto Ashland Avenue, to Jefferson Street.
For drivers travelling southeast on Jefferson Street, the detour will proceed right onto Ashland Avenue, slight left onto Mary Waters Ford Road, left onto Conshohocken State Road (Route 23), left onto Rock Hill Road, left onto Belmont Avenue.
The closure is necessary for the removal of Township-owned steps leading from Pencoyd Avenue to Jefferson Street in Belmont Hills. The steps have been closed for more than three years.
