Commendation for HeroismJanuary 2010
On Saturday, January 30, 2010, Officer Michael Pleasants responded to a report of a fire at 118 Ardmore, Avenue, Ardmore along with the Merion Fire Company of Ardmore Chief, Thomas Hayden.
An elderly female resident was trapped in a rear, smoke filled, first-floor apartment. While searching the building, Officer Pleasants heard Chief Hayden calling for help. Officer Pleasants immediately rushed to Chief Hayden’s aid and removed both the elderly resident and Chief Hayden from the structure before they became overtaken by the increasingly heavy smoke.
Officer Pleasants responded to the situation without any hesitation, demonstrating courage and dedication to duty. His courageous and selfless conduct reflects the ideals and core values of this Department and deserves the recognition and appreciation embodied in this Commendation for Heroism.
